Gramma

My dear, sweet Gramma
You touched every life
That came across you
Not thinking of yourself,
You toiled for your family
Loving, building up, growing
I will never forget
Your smile and laugh
All the good times we shared
I remember watching your soap operas with you
Days Of Our Lives and the Young and the Restless
Precious moments
Oh the fun we had,
watching Hunter and Miami Vice
I remember all of our holidays together
As kids at Christmas time you showered us with gifts
You are the best cook I've ever met
I will cherish your galumpkis, kielbasa, halushki, kapusta, pierogi, baked ham and turkey
Thank you for taking me to church
You kept God first in your life
I miss you Gramma
See you again someday

New poem, "The Blessed Mother"

"The Blessed Mother"

This beautiful lady,
This virgin so true,
She wants to be,
A mother to you.

The angel Gabriel addressed her,
Full of grace.
Mary said, "Yes Lord!"
And took her place.

This mortal teenager was given,
A monumental task.
To bear the Messiah.
How is this possible you ask?

It is a mystery,
Christ the incarnate Deity.
He took on human flesh,
For the sake of you and me.

Jesus loves His mother,
A love so pure and deep.
She never abandoned Him,
At Calvary she did weep.

So run to Mary,
And tell her your plea.
She will ask Jesus,
And you will get victory!

new poem, "The Gospel"

"The Gospel"

Christ first appeared
On a cold wintry night

Snow was gently falling
A lone candle gave light

Born to the blessed Virgin Mary
Sweet baby Jesus, the incarnate deity

Emmanuel was now before us
Oh what a heavenly sight to see

Christ was now a man
He began His earthly ministry

The crippled were healed
The blind could now see

Christ is the Logos
The living Word

So open your ears
Let the Lord be heard

According to the Law
We are dead in our sin

A perfect sacrifice is needed
A propitiation

Jesus lived with His 12 Apostles
He taught them all without exception

But one would betray Him
This man of perdition

In the Garden of Gethesemane Jesus prayed
And asked if He could forgo this bitter pill

Our precious Lord sweat blood
And He accepted the Father's will

Christ was taken before the religious authorities
They cruelly mocked Him

The Romans brutally scourged and beat Jesus
His life flickered dim

Oh how our Lord suffered
He endured so much pain

Our very sins caused this misery
The wicked heart profane

The King of Kings was crucified
Upon this tree He hung

He was slowly suffocating
Oh His burning lung

The Apostle John and the Blessed Mother
Saw the God Man in agony

Jesus cried out, "It is finished!"
His spirit did flee

He was buried in a tomb
The Romans guarded it well

Christ visited Abraham's Bosom
He released the souls from Hell

This perfect Lamb of God
Died in our place

He took on sin
Jesus finished the race

Now on the 3rd day
Something happened most miraculous

It can hardly be reckoned
This event so stupendous

Our Lord Jesus was resurrected
His body glorified and risen

Death could not hold Him
The Son of God was free from prison

Christ conquered sin
Death and Satan too

His sacrifice has made salvation possible
For me and you

So place your faith in Jesus
Call upon His blessed Name

Your life will be transformed
You'll never be the same

By God's grace we are saved
Through faith received

We are regenerated
By the faith of a mustard seed

To be born again
Is the greatest miracle of all time

You will receive the Holy Spirit
Now walk in truth sublime

So praise Him on the earth
And in the Heavens above

Let us proclaim the Good News
And demonstrate Christ's love

new poem

"to sleep"

I want to sleep
A slumber so deep

On my soft bed
I shall rest my head

I am exhausted and weary
My sleep is tarry

Much to my dismay
I did not sleep all day

I am plagued by insomnia so deep
'Tis vexing me so I could weep

Now I hope to dream and snore
A rest I'll truly adore

new poem

"autumn thunderstorm"

It's mid afternoon
Leaves rustle under foot
A satisfying crunch

I see my breath,
suspended in the frosty air

The fierce wind howls
Swirling vortices in the leaves

Rich vibrant hues saturate the ground
Red, yellow, orange and brown

The sky is overcast
With dark storm clouds

A gentle drizzle soon turns
Into sheets of torrential rain

I hear thunder crackle,
Booming in the distance

I soon see lightning
It glows hot and sizzles,
Piercing through the air

Eventually the storm fades away
The air smells fresh
I return home

poem

"Autumn Impressions"

I walk outside in the afternoon.
The fresh cool wind embraces me.

Leaves crunch under foot.
They form a rich tapestry of multicolored hues.
Red, orange, green, yellow and brown.

I visit Starbucks.
I get a pumpkin spice latte with whipped cream and nutmeg.
A nice piece of pumpkin bread rounds out my meal.

Later I arrive back home and lay down for a nap.
I dream of Thanksgiving turkey and pumpkin pie.

new poem

"Eat"

food is sublime
an ode in rhyme

whether it is pasta
or pizza pie

I love eating
sometimes French or Thai

give me bagels with cream cheese
or a strawberry cake

my senses are delighted
I am ready to partake

ramen noodles I like
and hamburgers too

I want some cheese fries
and beef roast au jus

there are so many cuisines
I never grow weary

I'll eat it all
and my stomach stays cheery

so bring on your cupcakes
and your tacos as well

a nice roasted turkey
sure is swell

I'll have some pumpkin pie
and moo shoo pork ad lib

spaghetti with meatballs is nice
also I'll have some prime rib

here ends my tale
I think I'll eat some quail

New poem

"Violet"

My sister Vi is so sweet and kind
I can always talk to her
If there's something on my mind

When I am sick and unwell
She nurses me
Until I feel swell

We can chat about poetry
Films and 80s songs
Our banter is always lively

She is a poet and an artist too
So talented
Her focus is true

Vi is my best friend
And my roommate as well
Eclectic we tend

We always communicate
Whether by text, phone, email or in person
Our discourse will never stagnate

Vi and I share faith in our Savior
Jesus Christ the Lord
We shall be with Him in eternal favor

new poem

"afternoon musings"

Water gushes across the window pane
Oh what a torrential rain

The cool Spring air
So refreshing and fair

The fierce wind gusts and blows
Following a path only God knows

I thought of the rain which fell
After Christ's death knell

His precious blood washed away down the hill
All in accordance with the Father's will

New poem

"Election"

Oh sweet joy I've come to know
Because of His unmerited grace
Eternity with the Lord I will face

Christ paid the ransom for my soul
I'm free from death and sin
Oh what a great propitiation

We are all blackened by sin
But we need not remain in darkness
God has given us the Lamb glorious

You can't earn salvation
No it must be a result of grace
We're no longer lost in disgrace

This wondrous Election is so sublime
From the world's foundation we were chosen
The regenerated souls and the damned frozen

If you are lost
And hurt and bruised and lame
Then repent and call upon His Name

Now praise the Redeemer
Let the trumpets sound and angelic host sings
Our Lord Jesus Christ, the King of Kings

new poem

"an autumn day"

a cold breeze passes
leaving goosebumps

i exhale
and my breath is visible

walking in the park
leaves satisfyingly crunch under foot

i take a sip
of my pumpkin spice latte

it is refreshing
i behold the trees

the many hued leaves
create a rich tapestry of color

i arrive home in time for lunch
french onion soup

i smell the sweet carmelized onions
it is topped with melted cheese

a pleasing meal
nourishing and earthy

i sit by the window
reading a book

soon it is evening
i wear a comfy sweater

i drift asleep
dreaming of a Thanksgiving feast

A Poem Untitled

photographs are interesting
yet also strange

capturing a real life,
in motion

a moment immortalized,
frozen in time

what stories would we hear
if they could speak

information lost
so much is unsaid

we do not perceive all
hidden forever

but we do see dimly
just a glimpse

depression redux

lost in a dark abyss
mired in an unceasing melancholy
my soul aches
a cold darkness engulfs me
it chills me to the bone
waves of dread wash over me
i cry out in despair
my mind is numb
yet at my worst He is still present
Christ's love reaches me
even in my lowly wretched state
how amazing and wonderful
thank you Lord!
i will keep running the race

A Christmas poem

The Christmas Star shows the way
To the manger in Bethlehem
Filled with hay

The animals gave watch
As our dear Lord was born
On a crisp Christmas morn

Christ came to save us all
Man was lost in sin
Since the Fall

Out of love
Christ came to earth
To win us second birth

Repent and submit to Him too
Be born again
Your life is anew

Make Christ your Lord
And Savior today
Do not delay

So rejoice and be glad
Eternal life
Is now had

Decorate the Christmas tree
Sing carols and stroll in the snow
Have some egg nog and let your cheeks glow

Have colored lights that shimmer so bright
May there be peace on earth
On this magical Christmas night

So be jolly and full of cheer
Let Christmas mirth
Herald Christ's birth

Evening showers

Cool waters
Drench the earth

A feast
Of sound

Claps of thunder
Loud and foreboding

Lightning sizzles
Glowing hot

I listen
Transfixed

Rain drops
Tap at my window

A fresh scent
Rebirth

Seeds will grow
Life moves on

The symphony
Delights my ears

Time slows
Earth is replenished

We will partake
In living waters

Come to Christ
and thirst no more

My struggle

my thoughts race
at the speed of light
disjointed fragments whiz by

weighed down
in a heavy abyss
lethargy and fatigue reign

a heavy malaise
washes over me
i feel numb

hallucinations torment me
reality is an illusion
an untrusted mind

dissociation comes
i am drowning
in a sea of dreams

an unknown sadness
profound and unending
i ask why

anxiety comes
paralyzing me
with fear and dread

delusions rule
who can discern
the truth of things

but there is hope
in Christ
i finally have peace

Winter Morn

I step out
Into a white landscape
The earth blanketed
By a frosty embrace
In the morning light
New fallen snow glimmers
Dazzling like diamonds
I breathe in cold air,
It stings my lungs
I feel alive and vital
Delicate snowflakes fall
Beautiful architecture
Wonderfully made by God
Such frozen symmetry
The snow is crisp
As I slowly walk
It crunches under foot
The streetlight shines
Snow shimmers beneath
The yellow light
May our faith
Be pure as snow
May our peace
Be full
As it is this morn

new poem

"One Winter's Evening"

Footsteps crunch
In new fallen snow

Frozen architecture
Left behind

Cold air
Stings my lungs

Feeling alive
I exhale frosty vapors

Evening comes
Streetlights aglow

Casting shadows
Of yellow and gray

Silence comes
Time seems to slow

I admire
Snowflakes hung in space

Wondrous design
Speaks to a Creator

Hills covered
In blankets of snow

Pure white
Reminds me of grace

Mind wanders
Bach's Art of the Fugue

Happiness comes
With the shimmering snow

Music dances
Across the sky

Sacred geometry
Revealed in crystalline forms

Feeling warmth
I listen

And realize
Everything will be ok

"Fall"

chilly winds envelope me
i walk slowly
through the park

trees paint the sky
orange, red, yellow and green
stark vivid hues

my steps are measured
i think of harvest
nature's bounty revealed

wafting through the air
i smell burnt leaves
an intoxicating fragrance

childhood memories stream past
jumping on piles of leaves
moist and crunchy

My Belly II

I smack my belly
I don't why why

I love to smack it
I can't tell a lie

I smack it all over
It resonates with glee

Oh what joy I get
From smacking my belly

I will smack it in the day
I will smack it at night

I will never stop smacking it
What a delight

So rotund and peaceful
Is my fatty belly

It loves to make music
So sweetly

I'll never stop smacking
My belly so fair

For all the ages
I will smack it with flair

Smack one
Smack two

Smack three
And Smack four

Smack it all over
Smack for ever more
